Outdoor Apparel Creator

We are seeking a highly imaginative and entrepreneurial designer specializing in outdoor and active apparel to enhance our brand offerings at Huckberry. This role involves close collaboration with the design director to curate an exceptional product lineup that aligns with market trends and captivates our audience. The ideal candidate should possess a deep passion for the outdoor and active lifestyle, along with a discerning eye for design and textiles.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop strategic direction for existing and potential active brands in partnership with the Brand Manager and merchandising team.
2. Oversee the product development cycle from initial color concepts to sketch evaluations and technical package creation for our active brands.
3. Innovate and elevate the product range through the use of premium fabrics and trims.
4. Collaborate daily with the development and production teams to ensure design integrity while meeting critical deadlines and performance indicators.
5. Conduct weekly fittings with technical design to maintain fit and quality standards.
6. Work alongside the PLM and merchandising teams to craft a compelling product assortment that resonates with our customers, supported by data and market insights.
7. Lead comprehensive market, product, fabric, and trend research.
8. Partner closely with the Director of Product Development and Production to ensure all significant calendar milestones are achieved.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in men's apparel design.
- Proven experience in activewear design is essential.
- Strong knowledge of activewear fabrics and trims.
- Experience in shaping the design vision across multiple categories and brands.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM systems.
- Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.
