Child Watch Staff Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Child Watch Staff to join our team at the Cleveland Y. As a Child Watch Staff, you will be responsible for supervising a group of children, planning and implementing culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate program activities, and maintaining accurate and timely records.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a group of children while adhering to program standards, including safety and cleanliness.
  • Plan and implement program activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings to stay up-to-date on best practices and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of child attendance, behavior, and progress.
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
  • Maintain positive relationships with parents and other staff members.
Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Previous experience working with diverse populations is a plus.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to plan, lead, and participate in a range of activities in various settings.
  • Walking, stooping, standing, hearing, seeing, lifting up to 50 pounds.
Training:
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2 certifications required within the first 30 days of employment.
  • New Employee Orientation required within the first week of employment.
