Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Youth Care Specialist
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide quality professional health services to youth in need. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering care and a commitment to teamwork and leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Provides clients with quality professional health services, including sick call, regular medical assessments, daily triage of injuries and illnesses, record review, health screening, and health education.
- Triage illness and injuries at each shift, determine medical priority, and treat within the scope of nursing practice.
- Assist appropriate medical staff with administering prescribed medications, including treatment within the scope of LPN practice.
- Conduct required health screenings, including height, weight, BMI, blood pressure, pulse, vision, hearing, acute and chronic illness evaluation, and substance abuse initial screenings.
- Assist appropriate medical staff with orientation and on an annual basis, staff members and youth will receive instruction on the exposure control plan, which includes standard precautions, blood borne pathogens, and how communicable diseases are spread.
- Document health care progress, problems, needs, and recommendations according to established charting procedures.
- Provide training and assistance in areas of infection control and OSHA compliance as needed.
- Systematically and periodically reviews client records and health care needs, noting immunization status, adherence to state guidelines, medication and food allergies, physical exam findings, dental and visual needs, diagnostic tests, and medication changes.
Requirements:
- Education: Requires education and licensing as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Must have and maintain current and appropriate LPN licensure in the state where employed.
- Experience: Two years of school, correctional, doctor's office, camp, industrial, or public health experience preferred. Experience working pediatric/adolescent patient care preferred.
- Skills: Requires discretion and judgment in making decisions. Requires ability to devise new methods or modifications or adapting standard principles or practices to new or changed conditions. Must have working knowledge of child/adolescent related illness. Must be CPR certified. Specialized Knowledge - Familiar with the psychological/physical needs of youth.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift/move up to 20 pounds and provide necessary physical services to clients. Must be free of communicable diseases as defined by the state and to the extent that knowledge is attainable under the law. Must be able to transport clients.
- Other: Must maintain an appropriate and valid state driver's license. Must meet state criminal background check requirements.
