The Senior Operations Leader will oversee the comprehensive management and strategic direction of manufacturing processes, ensuring that performance, volume, and quality objectives are achieved through the application of efficient methodologies while maintaining optimal staffing and labor cost levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for enhancement; implement strategies to improve manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness (e.g., waste reduction, labor cost minimization).
  • Achieve departmental projects and objectives within budgetary constraints.
  • Direct modifications to manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and customer expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to workplace and government-mandated regulations (FDA, USDA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Prepare and present various reports to senior management, including necessary corrective actions or adjustments.
  • Maintain overall safety of personnel through continuous inspection of the department and processes, implementing changes as needed to uphold efficiency without compromising safety and health.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Manager and other Managers to synchronize departmental activities.
  • Explain variances in labor costs and productivity as required.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, GSP, FSSC practices, and QC policies and procedures, alongside proper equipment maintenance.
  • Assist the Plant Director in the preparation of annual budgets and capital expenditure projects, including data collection, preparation, and presentation to senior management.
  • Work with other management to establish and communicate company policies, operational procedures, and objectives.
  • Ensure quality assurance programs effectively prevent or eliminate defects in both new and existing products.
  • Oversee the successful completion of department-specific initiatives (e.g., capital projects).
  • Manage the interviewing and hiring of employees, including performance appraisal, rewards, coaching, and addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or technical institution.

Experience:

  • 3 - 4 years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Experience in food production and packaging or related areas.

Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic algebra skills.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Strong working knowledge of equipment and processes, including HTST pasteurization, membrane filtration systems (Ultrafiltration, Reverse Osmosis, Microfiltration, Nanofiltration), evaporators, and whey or milk drying processes.
  • Mechanically inclined to collaborate effectively with the Maintenance department.
