Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at ReDiscover. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health diagnoses and/or substance use disorders in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities- Support and Guidance: Provide support and guidance to clients using your personal experiences and recovery journey to build rapport and engage in services.
- Linkage to Resources: Link clients with support groups and other community resources, including health and wellness activities, employment opportunities, and other activities that support recovery goals.
- Treatment Planning: Work with an interdisciplinary team to develop and modify individual client treatment plans.
- Group Facilitation: Participate in and/or facilitate mutual support and education groups within specific ReDiscover programs.
- Transportation: Assist with client transportation, which may include transporting individuals in your personal vehicle.
- Street Outreach: Utilize non-traditional means to connect with clients, including street outreach.
- Confidentiality: Safeguard Protected Health Information (written and electronically) and maintain confidentiality, including providing written documentation.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Driver's License: A valid automobile driver's license, appropriate automobile insurance, and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work.
- Personal Experience: Must have life experiences with mental illness/substance use disorders and have received services.
- Certification: Must have successfully completed the Peer Specialist training through the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB) and successfully passed the certification exam. Individuals who are non-certified at time of hire may be given a specific timeframe to attend training and obtain initial certification.
- Skills: Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus, strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, intermediate computer skills in typing/keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel programs, and GSuite.
