Nurse Care Specialist

Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse at Stony Brook Medicine, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care using the nursing process. This includes collecting relevant data, reporting critical values to physicians, and assessing lab and diagnostic data. You will also be responsible for documenting findings, identifying abnormal findings, and developing a plan of care based on patient need. Additionally, you will advocate on behalf of patients and their families, perform interventions according to patient need and hospital policy, and evaluate patient outcomes in relation to goals. A professional demeanor and open communication with nursing management are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Collects data relevant to patients condition and reports critical values to physician in a timely manner
- Assesses appropriate lab and diagnostic data
- Documents findings of physical assessment and identifies abnormal findings
- Develops plan of care based on patient need
- Advocates on behalf of the patient and their family
- Performs interventions according to patient need and hospital policy
- Evaluates patient outcomes in relation to goals
