Job Description

**Job Title:** Senior Business Product Owner

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Product Owner to join our team at Pyramid Consulting, Inc. as a contract position. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of products and services, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Requirements Expertise: Serve as the business requirements expert, engaging and managing the work of subject matter specialists from the business.
  • Decision-Making: Serve as the day-to-day decision-maker and provide continual business guidance for the execution team.
  • Business Strategy and Vision: Work with business and Enterprise stakeholders to understand and validate business strategy and vision, and customer needs.
  • Customer Representation: Serve as direct representative of the business with delivery teams, representing/reinforcing the customers' perspective throughout the product realization cycle.
  • Metrics and Tracking: Work with the business process owners to develop metrics to manage and track benefits, adoption, and risks to operations.
  • Project Planning: Assist with project-level plans related to schedule, scope, and resources.
  • Team Leadership: Lead & collaborate with, and motivate a cross-functional team of user experience partners, designers, business analysts, developers, testers and others to develop, execute, and release in alignment with the program, and/or product roadmaps.
  • Work Item Management: Manage, prioritize, and assess the impact of all work items, such as new features, defects, etc., including providing the decision to create, fix or defer at the project level.
  • Feedback and Requirements: Reviews, and when appropriate, accepts and prioritizes feedback and new requirements from stakeholders.
  • Development Output: Reviews and accepts or declines output of development to ensure specified acceptance criteria have been completed.
  • Business Preparation: Prepares the business for the change and arms them with tactics and metrics for benefits, adoption, and risk.
  • Coaching and Development: Assists with coaching less experienced DPOs and team members
  • Feature Refining: The Development Product Owner (DPO) will be responsible for navigating each of the systems to refine features assigned to them and write stories for IT teams to execute.
  • Backlog Management: The responsibility of these individuals will be to take business-written features and partner with IT to refine the features and break them down into stories that can be assigned out to agile teams to develop.
  • Quarterly Planning: The individual will be responsible for maintaining the backlog of features/stories and ensuring that by the start of each quarter, the IT team has enough ready work for that program increment.

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

  • Technical Software Delivery Methodologies: Knowledge of multiple technical software delivery methodologies (i.e., Agile, Waterfall, SAFe) with a proven track record in using these skills to develop and manage products through the entire product life cycle.
  • Engineering Methodologies: Experience in engineering methodologies and Change Management practices to translate business requirements into functional specifications.
  • Process Improvement: Experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or directly related to supported business operations/product lines.
  • Scaled Agile: Must have a background in Scaled Agile (Safe, Kaizen, LeSS)
  • Agile Product Owner: Preferred to have had previous experience as an Agile Product Owner
  • Business Architecture: Business Architecture/Human Centered Design background familiarity
  • Data Design: Data Design background is preferred
  • Project Management Tools: Clarity, Rally, Jira.
