Boilermaker Fabricator

We are seeking a skilled Boilermaker to join our team at the Department of Water & Power City of Los Angeles. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, constructing, assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining pressure vessels and auxiliary equipment, penstocks, tanks, ducts boilers, heat exchangers, and other pressure vessels and accessories.

• Fabricate, construct, assemble, install, repair, and maintain pressure vessels and auxiliary equipment, penstocks, tanks, ducts boilers, heat exchangers, and other pressure vessels and accessories.
• Perform skilled work in fabrication, construction, assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of pressure vessels and auxiliary equipment.
• Work with various materials, including metal, to fabricate and repair equipment.
• Operate and maintain equipment, including welding equipment, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Collaborate with other team members to complete projects and meet deadlines.

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a boilermaker or six years of full-time paid experience as a boilermaker helper.
• Knowledge of safety principles, practices, and procedures as required by the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal-OSHA).
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

The examination will consist entirely of an evaluation of professional and personal qualifications by interview. The interview will assess the candidate's judgment, decision-making, stress tolerance, mechanical aptitude, teamwork, credibility, and ability to follow oral directions.
