Boilermaker Fabricator

We are seeking a skilled Boilermaker to join our team at the Department of Water & Power City of Los Angeles. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, constructing, assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining pressure vessels and auxiliary equipment, penstocks, tanks, ducts boilers, heat exchangers, and other pressure vessels and accessories.

• Fabricate, construct, assemble, install, repair, and maintain pressure vessels and auxiliary equipment, penstocks, tanks, ducts boilers, heat exchangers, and other pressure vessels and accessories.
• Perform skilled work in fabrication, construction, assembly, installation, repair, and maintenance of pressure vessels and auxiliary equipment.
• Work with various materials, including metal, to create and repair pressure vessels and equipment.
• Ensure all work is done in accordance with safety principles, practices, and procedures as required by Cal-OSHA.
• Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.

• Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a boilermaker or six years of full-time paid experience as a boilermaker helper.
• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Knowledge of safety principles, practices, and procedures as required by Cal-OSHA.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches related to boilermaking.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The examination will consist entirely of an evaluation of professional and personal qualifications by interview. The following competencies may be evaluated: Judgment and Decision Making, Stress Tolerance, Mechanical Aptitude, Teamwork, Credibility, Follow Oral Directions, Safety Focus, and Job Knowledge.
