We are seeking a highly skilled Night Shift Pharmacist to join our team at NYU Langone Health in Brooklyn. As a Night Shift Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation and dispensing of medications to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with laws and regulations governing pharmacists and the practice of pharmacy.
- Optimize drug therapy by identifying, resolving, and preventing drug-related problems and improving therapeutic outcomes.
- Work independently within established pharmacy policies and procedures as a member of the inpatient care team.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of a pharmacy service area, supervising staff and support personnel as needed.
- Assign and manage controlled substances, ensuring proper inventory control and record-keeping.
- Participate in daily medical and multidisciplinary rounds, attending and participating in patient discharge counseling and education as required.
- Verify and check emergency trays, emergency carts, ambulance boxes, and other critical medications.
- Ensure compliance with USP 797 regulations, maintaining a sterile environment and supervising IV technicians.
- Monitor patient drug therapy, documenting and reporting clinical interventions and adverse drug events.
- Communicate therapeutic or toxicity concerns to prescribers immediately, utilizing available resources to reach clinically sound decisions.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy or equivalent.
- Licensed to practice in NY and in good standing.
- Board Certification in relevant area highly desirable.
- Completion of safety training, OSHA/Fire safety, Infection control, and Safe handling of chemotherapeutic agents.
- Competency assessments in areas of Population specific pharmacotherapy, Aseptic technique, Anti-infective, Anti-coagulation therapy.
