Role Overview:

The Senior Robotic Endoscope Engineer will spearhead the design and enhancement of robotic endoscopes, meticulously considering both system and subsystem components, interactions, and constraints. This role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including Functional Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Product Management, to gather requirements, solicit feedback, and ensure architectural decisions align with overarching business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the technical strategy and development roadmap for robotic endoscopes, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Utilize engineering principles to guide the design, prototyping, and testing phases of robotic bronchoscope development.
  • Oversee the integration of robotic systems, sensors, imaging technologies, and control algorithms for precise navigation and manipulation during surgical procedures.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to address complex engineering challenges and ensure project milestones are met successfully.
  • Work alongside regulatory affairs to maintain compliance with medical device regulations throughout the development process.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous professional growth.
  • Communicate project status, technical updates, and insights to stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.
  • Engage in industry conferences and forums to enhance thought leadership and expand the company's professional network.

About You:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience leading complex engineering projects, particularly in steerable catheter or endoscope design and manufacturing, with a preference for hands-on experience in robotic platform development.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail, with a proven track record of troubleshooting technical issues and optimizing system performance.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, capable of conveying complex concepts in understandable terms to diverse teams.
  • Experience managing project budgets, resources, and timelines while prioritizing quality and safety.
  • Proficiency in transferring new products and processes to manufacturing environments.
  • Advanced skills in SolidWorks, including experience with CAD and PDM tools.
  • A solid understanding of regulatory standards, including IEC and FDA 510(k) submission processes, with a focus on risk management.
  • Experience in a dynamic startup environment.
  • A background in translating insights into intellectual property.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s or PhD is preferred.
