CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER ROLE OVERVIEW
The Chief Medical Officer is tasked with providing overall medical direction and ensuring clinical excellence within our healthcare services, adhering to relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies. This role emphasizes a patient-centered approach and involves collaboration with various departments and stakeholders to guarantee high-quality care for our patient demographic. The Chief Medical Officer acts as the designated Physician and health authority as per national standards, overseeing clinical services to ensure the effective delivery of necessary medical care.
CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER WORK SCHEDULE
- Full-Time Commitment
CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduation from an accredited medical institution
- Valid medical license to practice in the relevant state
- Current DEA Registration
- Preferred board certification or eligibility in a primary care specialty (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine) with experience in correctional or managed healthcare
- Proficiency in English, encompassing reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
- A collaborative team player who embodies teamwork and cooperation.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Skilled in tactfully interacting with personnel, families, visitors, government representatives, and the public.
- Possess leadership qualities and the ability to effectively supervise staff.
CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage with community medical providers to address service delivery challenges.
- Oversee clinical services rendered by both professional and support staff.
- Provide on-call medical services as required.
- Review and endorse clinical protocols, policies, and emergency plans annually.
- Manage referrals to external healthcare facilities, ensuring quality and continuity of care.
- Support Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners in compliance with state regulations.
- Act as a resource for all medical staff and clinical personnel at the facility.
- Participate in the recruitment and evaluation of healthcare providers.
- Contribute to in-service training programs.
- Represent the healthcare initiative in discussions with local organizations or visiting officials as needed.
- Attend medical and clinical meetings as required.
- Document all patient interactions in medical records.
- Ensure all documentation is timely, legible, and appropriately signed.
- Adhere to established therapeutic regimens and review non-formulary requests for documentation.
- Utilize in-house resources for treatment before considering external referrals.
- Provide emergency care on-site and respond effectively to urgent situations.
- Strive to set new benchmarks for the industry through core values, partnerships, effective clinical practices, and innovative healthcare strategies.
- Maintain competence in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED use.
- Follow evidence-based medical care standards in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
