Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. As a key member of our Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD), you will be responsible for leading reliability-related tasks, including design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform reliability-related tasks, including design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, and FMEA.
  • Lead reliability support to the design team through the performance of design tradeoffs, reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions, and de-rating analysis.
  • Develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
  • Utilize industry tools to conduct reliability analysis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 1+ year of engineering experience.
  • Ability to perform various reliability engineering-related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and FMEA for identifying fault modes and responses.
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulations and software analysis tools used in reliability analysis.
  • Familiarity with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and ability to interpret schematics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design.
  • Combining hands-on reliability analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware, and systems.
  • PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure.
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Active US Govt. DoD Top Secret clearance and/or active SCI access at time of application.
