Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. This role will be responsible for performing various reliability-related tasks, including leading reliability support to the design team, performing design tradeoffs, and conducting reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reliability engineering, with experience in performing reliability-related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). They will also have knowledge of functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and the ability to interpret schematics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform various reliability-related tasks, including leading reliability support to the design team, performing design tradeoffs, and conducting reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions.
  • Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify fault modes and responses.
  • Develop technical solutions to potential reliability and availability problems.
  • Utilize industry tools to conduct Reliability analysis.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 3+ years of engineering experience OR PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline and 1+ years of engineering experience.
  • Ability to perform various reliability engineering-related tasks, such as reliability failure rate/MTBF predictions and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulations and software analysis tools used in Reliability analysis.
  • Familiarity with functional block diagrams, reliability block diagrams, and the ability to interpret schematics.
  • Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of technical principles, theories, subsystem design, and knowledge of general satellite design.
  • Combining hands-on Reliability Analysis and modeling skills for satellite, directed energy hardware, and systems.
  • PM&P and Electronics Design experience or exposure.
  • Advanced user in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Active US Govt. DoD Top Secret clearance and/or active SCI access at time of application.
