Per Diem Massage Therapist - Cancer Center

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Per Diem Massage Therapist to join our team at the NYU Clinical Cancer Center. As a Per Diem Massage Therapist, you will provide massage therapy services to oncology patients, supervising massage therapy staff and overseeing educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a schedule of licensed massage therapists to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
  • Document treatment notes in the electronic medical record, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Support patients in developing self-care strategies, including meditation and yoga, to promote relaxation and symptom management.
  • Educate patients on specific massage techniques used in oncology massage, highlighting benefits, safety, and optimal dosing for symptom management.
  • Obtain medical clearance from a physician or registered nurse before performing massage therapy.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patients' symptoms and needs.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to design educational programming and teach workshops for internal and external constituents.
  • Train new licensed massage therapists and conduct competency assessments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Valid New York State license in massage therapy.
  • Three years of experience providing massage therapy in a clinical setting.
  • Advanced training in one or more of the following topics/modalities: oncology massage, hospital-based massage, Reiki, meditation, or manual lymphatic drainage.
  • Supervisory and/or teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Oncology massage experience is highly preferred.
