Job Summary

The Principal Nuclear Engineer- Mechanical in Engineering Services provides strategic oversight and governance for multiple mechanical component activities at Salem and Hope Creek Generating Stations.

This role requires a Subject Matter Expert with industry-leading performance via a robust Preventative Maintenance program and Long-Term Asset Management Strategies benchmarked against industry best practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintains expertise on Salem and Hope Creek Mechanical and support systems, including chillers, HVAC, compressors, emergency diesel generators, and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Mentors site peers and provides support to the sites on complex and strategic issues.
  • Performs third-party reviews of technical documents and leads complex engineering analysis and technical issues beyond the capabilities of site personnel.
  • Provides in-the-field support during refuel outages and supports common projects affecting both sites as part of business and project planning.
  • Supports resolutions of industry issues that affect both sites and represents PSEG Nuclear by leading and influencing decision-making at the industry level.
  • Provides oversight and recommendations for routine assessments, outage readiness, and preparation for outside organizational assessments.
  • Benchmarks industry best practices and incorporates learnings into programs and processes.
Requirements
  • BS degree in Engineering, Science, or Technology.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience directly related to turbine/generator asset management, maintenance, and/or technical support.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility with changing priorities and changing ways of doing business.
  • Must meet nuclear requirements for unescorted site access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nuclear power plant experience.
  • Advanced technical degree.
