Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Engineer with ITGS, you will be part of the HVAC team designing and developing areas of HVAC systems and support utilities for treatment and vitrification processes. Your expertise will be essential in preparing technical reports, studies, procurement documentation, and design documentation, as well as performing calculations using engineering software and supporting systems.
You will work closely with other engineering disciplines and the client to develop the design, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. Your solid experience in HVAC design will enable you to develop design documents and procurement documents, including specifications, material requisitions, ventilation and instrumentation diagrams, and equipment data sheets.
This is a full-time role with part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. You will work a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Please note that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Participate in the design, development, and modification of mechanical components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and guides.
- Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Prepare conceptual studies, designs, reports, or proposals.
- Provide technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- Professional Engineers license (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
- Experience in producing HVAC Load Calculations, ductwork design, and equipment selection for nuclear HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of ASME AG-1, ASHRAE, SMACNA standards, and experience with DOE Nuclear Cleaning Handbook and guides.
- Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check, which includes verification of employment and education.
- Ability to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
