We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Laboratory Services to lead our laboratory department at MyMichigan Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and operating our laboratory services to meet the needs of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Fiscal Management: Maintain fiscal responsibility for preparing and monitoring all laboratory budgets, approving expenditures within established limits, and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Strategic Planning: Develop long-range plans for the system laboratory, ensuring compliance with CLIA and CAP requirements at all locations of service, and maintaining laboratory services that meet the needs of our organization.
- Performance Management: Develop and monitor performance indicators/metrics for assigned departments and services, support compliance efforts, and maintain confidentiality.
- Leadership Development: Provide leadership development, oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and coordinate meetings and committees related to patient care and staff development.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and coordinate workgroups to address organizational goals, and maintain excellent communication, both internally and externally.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain College of American Pathologists (CAP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Joint Commission, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) standards and accreditation.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- Experience: Three (3) years of clinical laboratory experience and five (5) years of management experience in a healthcare system similar in size to MyMichigan Health.
- Certifications: Medical Technologist (MT) certification or equivalent experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
- Skills: Leadership skills, written and interpersonal skills, knowledge of basic techniques in financial analysis, and ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently.
