Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Laboratory Services to lead our laboratory department. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and operating the laboratory departments to meet the needs of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the management of the department
  • Accountable for human resource management, financial management, and quality management for department and programs within responsibility
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Coordinate meetings and committees related to patient care and staff development
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators/metrics for assigned departments/services
  • Support compliance efforts and maintain confidentiality
  • Evaluate business initiatives and recommend process/system redesign and new services
  • Responsible for the oversight and performance of laboratory employees to deliver quality test results to physicians and patients
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science
  • Masters Degree in related field
  • Three years clinical laboratory experience and five years management experience in a Healthcare setting
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Leadership skills and written and interpersonal skills to communicate successfully with individuals and groups
  • Knowledge of basic techniques in financial analysis
Certifications and Licenses
  • MLS - Medical Laboratory Scientist ASCP
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position
  • Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description
  • Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s)
  • Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time
