As a Carrier Procurement Specialist within our Brokerage division, your role will involve sourcing, negotiating, and securing carriers to ensure timely and cost-efficient freight movement.
Your daily responsibilities will include:
- Developing and nurturing strong relationships with core carriers while negotiating contracts for freight transportation.
- Maintaining open lines of communication with both carriers and clients to guarantee a seamless freight movement experience.
- Keeping all stakeholders informed about route modifications, delays, freight issues, or other pertinent matters.
- Coordinating pickup and delivery schedules, applying sound judgment regarding various factors that may impact timelines, such as weather and traffic conditions.
- Adhering to established protocols concerning HVS and HRC loads to uphold shipment integrity and the RXO brand reputation.
- Accurately updating and maintaining information within the company's operational systems.
- Conducting research in available databases to identify potential leads and making outreach calls to prospects.
- Monitoring billing and invoicing processes to ensure accuracy in carrier charges.
To thrive in this position, you will need:
At a minimum:
- One year of experience in procurement.
It would be advantageous if you also possess:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work or military experience.
- One year of experience in transportation.
- Two years of experience in sales or customer service.
- The ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while working independently within authorized limits.
