Position Overview

The Senior Financial Services Advisor plays a crucial role in assisting students and their families with various financial matters related to their education. This position requires a commitment to providing exceptional service and support to the RIT community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding assistance to students, parents, and RIT departments regarding a comprehensive range of financial services.
  • Supply timely and precise information concerning tuition, housing, meal plans, fees, and payment options, including financial aid and third-party credits.
  • Engage in detailed tasks related to third-party billing, collections, student account services, accounts receivable, cashiering functions, and the Federal Perkins Loan Program.
  • Conduct outreach to students and families to address account balances, which may exceed $25,000 per semester, and propose suitable payment solutions while exercising professional judgment.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of university policies and relevant federal and state regulations pertaining to financial aid programs, including Federal Title IV Programs, NYS TAP, and alternative loan options.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the PeopleSoft Campus Solutions system and related administrative systems to ensure efficient processing of student account adjustments and billing.
  • Assist in the testing of new functionalities for PeopleSoft and collaborate with internal departments and external agencies.
  • Act as a resource for federal loan programs, advising students on repayment and consolidation options while actively seeking alternatives to prevent defaults.
  • Handle incoming inquiries, process transactions, and provide guidance to walk-in customers.
  • Undertake additional tasks and special projects as assigned by management.
  • Participate in a minimum of 40 hours of training and professional development annually to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.

This position adheres to NYS's Pay Transparency Act, and the salary range is reflective of various factors, including the responsibilities of the role, candidate experience, and market considerations. Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Business Administration or Accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with Oracle financial applications, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Understanding of accounting principles, strong math skills, and the ability to analyze financial data effectively.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising professional judgment in all responsibilities.
  • Capability to build and maintain relationships across various departments to proactively address financial or academic issues.
