Job OverviewPosition Title: Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer)

Position Summary:
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for delivering emergency medical services and rescue operations to individuals in need, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies of ROSS-WEST VIEW EMERGENCY MEDICAL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responding promptly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Providing both basic and advanced life support to patients in various settings, including at the scene and during transport.
  • Evaluating the severity of injuries or illnesses to determine appropriate medical interventions.
  • Executing rescue operations and safely extricating individuals from hazardous situations.
  • Communicating effectively with healthcare professionals and facilities to coordinate patient care.
  • Maintaining order at emergency scenes and ensuring the safety of all individuals present.
  • Completing necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Patient Privacy:
The EMT is required to uphold patient confidentiality in accordance with established privacy policies and regulations. Access to patient information is strictly limited to what is necessary for job performance.

Vehicle Operation:
The EMT must operate emergency vehicles safely and efficiently, ensuring that all equipment is in proper working order and that vehicles are well-maintained.

Routine Duties:
In addition to emergency response, the EMT will perform various tasks to support the ambulance service, including:
  • Restocking and cleaning ambulance equipment.
  • Participating in public service events and representing the organization positively.
  • Assisting with non-emergency transport requests as needed.
Team Collaboration:
As part of a dedicated team, the EMT must be adaptable and ready to respond to emergencies at any time, maintaining a thorough understanding of local geography and emergency protocols.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current state EMT certification and valid driver's license.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in various environments.
Work Environment:
The role involves exposure to challenging conditions and requires the ability to manage stress effectively while providing compassionate care to patients.
