Role Summary:
The Volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is responsible for delivering critical rescue services and emergency medical assistance to individuals in need, adhering to all relevant laws, regulations, and the policies of ROSS-WEST VIEW EMERGENCY MEDICAL.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations with composure and efficiency.
- Provide both basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, during transport, and in pre-hospital environments, in compliance with applicable laws and standards.
- Evaluate the severity of injuries or illnesses to determine appropriate medical interventions.
- Effectively rescue and extricate individuals from hazardous situations using established medical and rescue techniques.
- Administer care to patients while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and maintaining confidentiality.
- Collaborate with medical professionals and facilities to coordinate further treatment and patient reception.
- Maintain order at emergency scenes, including managing crowds and ensuring the safety of bystanders.
- Complete necessary documentation, including patient care and insurance forms, accurately and promptly.
The EMT is also tasked with the following operational responsibilities:
- Drive and operate emergency vehicles safely, ensuring they are well-maintained and equipped.
- Respond to service requests via communication devices, maintaining accurate records of all operations.
- Participate in routine maintenance and cleaning of emergency vehicles and equipment.
- Represent the emergency medical service at public events and functions as required.
Applicants must possess:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Current state EMT certification and relevant licenses.
- Experience in emergency medical services or related fields.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
This role demands physical strength and stamina, as well as the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations. The EMT must be capable of:
- Performing physical tasks such as lifting and carrying patients and equipment.
- Working in diverse and challenging environments.
- Communicating effectively with patients and team members.
