Job Summary:
The Customer Service Representative position is a key role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of our store's front-end activities. As a representative of Northgate Markets, you will be responsible for supervising and directing front-end operations, maintaining high standards of customer service, and working closely with the Customer Service Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe all store rules and company policies to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Supervise and direct front-end activities, including cash handling, customer service, and inventory management.
- Assist customers with refunds, over-rings, and other transactions requiring supervisory approvals or overrides.
- Process various types of sales transactions, including authorized Accounts Receivable sales, EFT transactions, WIC Coupons, Food Stamps, manufacturers' coupons, and gift certificates.
- Maintain a regular and effective housekeeping program of the front-end area.
- Implement and maintain security programs for front-end and receiving areas in accordance with company standards and policies.
Requirements:
- At least 6 months of cashier experience within the company.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish preferred.
- Math skills (tenth grade level) necessary to supervise and handle sales transactions, tender change, verify vendor invoice charges and counts, calculate gross margins and ad losses, estimate labor requirements based on sales volume projections, and balance cash receipts or troubleshoot errors or discrepancies in cash or column balances.
- Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages for assistance, accommodate verbal requests from customers for information or assistance, answer telephones, and communicate effectively with department employees, coworkers, and customers.
- Customer Service Focused.
- Ability to work a combination of early, mid, and late shifts.
- Must be able to relocate to a store within 15-20 miles from home depending on the needs of the business.
Physical Demands and Conditions:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- The employee must frequently walk, talk, or hear, and reach with the hands and arms; occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel.
- The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 50 pounds carrying boxes of records and forms and frequently exert or lift moderate amounts of weight.
- Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
