Why this role is significant:

You will assist the General Counsel. We are seeking a curious, engaging, and seasoned attorney to serve as the primary legal advisor for our Accommodations sector.

In this capacity, you will:
  • Act as the Chief Legal Advisor for the rapidly growing accommodations division, providing extensive legal support across all operational needs.
  • Lead and Manage Commercial Contracting for all services and products within the Accommodations sector, ensuring effective negotiation and finalization of agreements.
  • Offer General Counsel on daily matters, including collaboration on supplier communications, providing strategic legal insights to facilitate business operations and decision-making.
  • Advise on Strategic Partnership Opportunities, including licensing for new business ventures and supporting the sales team in business expansion efforts.
  • Negotiate Major Agreements with hotel chain partners and other essential stakeholders to secure content supply and other strategic alliances.
  • Address Complex Business and Legal Challenges by leveraging your intellectual curiosity and proactive mindset to navigate and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and Implement Standardized Processes and templates to enhance legal operations and improve efficiency.
  • Oversee Legal Escalations within the organization, collaborating with stakeholders on litigation matters and alternative dispute resolution strategies to effectively manage and resolve conflicts.
  • Work with Cross-Functional Teams globally to tackle and resolve issues related to privacy, data security, marketing, competition, intellectual property, tax, and regulatory compliance, ensuring product integrity and customer trust.
  • Supervise External Counsel on escalated commercial and corporate issues, providing guidance and oversight to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Demonstrate Executive Leadership by collaborating with key stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives, execute business objectives, and achieve measurable outcomes, showcasing autonomy and a sense of ownership.
Who you are:
  • A minimum of 15 years of legal experience as a qualified attorney, including at least 3 years in-house.
  • Previous experience in the travel sector, particularly with Accommodations businesses (e.g., hotels, Online Travel Agencies, room distribution networks).
  • Experience in technology is advantageous.
  • Most of your experience will involve concluding commercial contract negotiations with a diverse array of business partners, though some corporate law and dispute resolution experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with legal issues arising from cross-border transactions.
  • Experience with holding companies, including intercompany agreements.
  • Exceptional legal education and credentials from reputable law firms.
  • Active member in good standing with your state bar, with the ability to work in your hired location.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills are essential.
  • Knowledge and experience in consumer law and privacy, along with a general understanding of legal challenges facing technology companies, is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable using a contract management tool for contract administration processes while also being adept at partnering with the business to manage contracts through to completion.
  • Travel may be required to engage with business leaders and conduct negotiations with partners.

Salary considerations are based on various factors, including external market benchmarks, geographic location, and the experience required. In addition to a competitive base salary, certain roles may qualify for an annual bonus and/or equity grant.

The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $225,000.
