Job Summary

The CIA Restaurant Group is seeking a highly skilled Event Sales Manager to oversee all aspects of event sales from initial guest contact through securing a deposit at both California locations. This is a key role that requires strong sales and marketing skills, as well as excellent event management abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute an annual program to achieve forecasted sales while providing the highest quality customer service.
  • Manage the Special Events sales office, utilizing consistent, responsive procedures for all inquiries, including a protocol for site visits.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients to ensure achievement of annual sales goals.
  • Coordinate with internal public relations and marketing departments to promote Special Events products and services.
  • Schedule and conduct site visits for prospective clients.
  • Qualify event inquiries, including event date(s), space requirements, food and beverage, and other service or support requirements.
  • Prepare event proposals in a timely manner to best match or exceed client expectations, department capabilities, and established margins.
  • Communicate and request space bookings for all Special Events for Copia and Greystone, and control event spaces at Greystone, working in conjunction with the Education Department.
  • Provide financial reporting, including periodic sales reports, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Participate in the development of new products and services, and prepare and execute plans for identifying new markets and clients for Special Events.
  • Represent the Events team at local, regional, and national trade shows, and maintain membership in key associations in the local area.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Chef on menu planning functions and events.
  • Work closely with the Greystone and Copia teams and Events senior management on costing of events, and defining food and labor costs to maintain established margins.
  • Provide backup supervision to staff executing events, including Banquet Captains, Banquet Bartenders, Banquet Servers, and Stewarding team, as required.
  • Coordinate with Events Culinary team on event execution as required.

Requirements

  • Education: Hospitality management, culinary, or tourism degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience in special events, with emphasis in sales and marketing.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience as a catering/Special Events sales manager in the Napa Valley, and minimum one (1) year of supervisor experience.
  • Skills: Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills, with demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of computers, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, when necessary, to manage and oversee designated events.
  • Regular work requires a great deal of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, and stretching.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
