Clean Harbors is actively seeking an Environmental Waste Management Specialist to join our team. This role involves the careful handling, segregation, packing, and inspection of hazardous materials in compliance with all relevant regulations and company protocols. The position requires both indoor and outdoor work at various locations, including industrial sites and laboratories, and entails assisting with waste management projects, including household hazardous waste collections and laboratory relocations. This is a client-facing role, requiring daily interaction at customer locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize health and safety by adhering to all safe work practices and policies.
  • Generate packing lists, labels, manifests, and notifications for land disposal restrictions.
  • Conduct inspections of storage and staging areas to ensure compliance with housekeeping standards.
  • Inspect storage areas and containers for leaks or spills.
  • Ensure proper labeling and compliance of waste containers.
  • Collect, segregate, and package hazardous materials for disposal efficiently and in compliance with regulations.
  • Execute tasks at client locations, including those of Fortune 500 companies.
  • Prepare and approve all projects for shipment in accordance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company policies.
  • Conduct projects in line with site-specific federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Understand specific disposal restrictions and packaging requirements for clients.
  • Sample and profile new waste streams requiring analytical testing.
  • Verify drum counts and ensure that containers are in shippable condition according to company standards.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal compliance regulations.
  • Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT and other regulatory requirements.
  • Follow corporate operating guidelines and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsements within six months of employment.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks as required by the job.
  • Successful completion of background checks, drug tests, and physical examinations.
  • Compliance with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard regarding facial hair.

Preferred:

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related Natural Science field.
  • Experience in Environmental Services, such as remediation or emergency spill response.
