Position Summary

Are you passionate about diagnosing, repairing, and enhancing the functionality of advanced equipment? This role is tailored for you. As a Field Service Engineer, you will engage directly with clients, representing Centrotherm - Clean Tech and becoming a vital member of a dynamic service team.

Our training equips Field Service Engineers to uphold the technologies that contribute to cleaner air globally. You will play a crucial role in ensuring Centrotherm Abatement Systems operate at their best, collaborating with international clients to install, maintain, and upgrade their Centrotherm systems, thereby providing exceptional support for high-value production systems.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

This position requires experienced professionals and offers hourly compensation. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered. Preferred qualifications enhance the candidate profile. Relevant experience can be gained through education, projects, research, and applicable job or military experience.   • Effective communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to engage with factory personnel and various stakeholders within a diverse organization.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical challenges on intricate electromechanical systems.
  • Capability to work autonomously at remote locations with minimal supervision.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in understanding and adhering to procedures necessary for maintaining and repairing complex machinery.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by job scope or facility.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Commitment to personal and collective safety.
  • Solid proficiency in PC operations and Microsoft Office Suite.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Candidates must fulfill at least one of the following educational or experiential criteria:

  • Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in a STEM field or technical program, or military service with a minimum of 6 months of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Technical certification or diploma from a trade school.
  • Over 6 months of experience in operating, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance in the semiconductor manufacturing sector or a similar industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • More than 2 years of experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Previous exposure to vacuum and/or abatement systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct necessary preventative maintenance, inspections, modifications, and repairs on Centrotherm Abatement Systems.
  • Commission new Centrotherm abatement systems at client locations, ensuring proper operation and setup prior to customer production handover.
  • Regularly meet with supervisors to establish work priorities and schedules.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer service at client sites.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers.
  • Prepare and submit service reports, document service activities, recommend technical solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide remote support to clients to resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Be prepared to work during off-hours, evenings, and weekends as necessary.
  • Utilize common computer-based tools effectively (e.g., MS Office applications).
  • Deliver training to clients and/or internal personnel.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Positions may be based in various locations, with daily operations potentially occurring nationwide.

Must be capable of:

  • Working in environments with chemicals and gases while wearing protective gear, including aprons, hoods, gloves, booties, safety glasses, and respirators.
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs., pulling 250 lbs. at least once daily, and spending the majority of time (over 90 percent, excluding breaks) on the floor working on equipment, walking 3-5 miles daily, and/or standing/sitting for extended periods.
  • Traveling to and working at regional client sites.
  • Maintaining a valid driver's license.
  • Engaging in heavy computer usage.
  • Being prepared for travel requirements up to 100% of the time.
