Job Title: WIC Professional

About the Role:

Broadlawns Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled WIC Professional to join our team. As a WIC Professional, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our community has access to high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the general supervision of the Program Director, certify eligibility of Program participants by determining nutritional risk for women who are pregnant or up to 6 months postpartum, as well as children from birth to age 5 years.
  • Provide and assure nutrition education to Program participants.
  • Function as the competent professional authority for determination of program eligibility and certification.
  • Conduct assessments of individual anthropometric, biochemical, and dietary data to determine nutritional risk.
  • Complete required certification procedures in Focus (WIC software).
  • Complete intake procedures for program applicants, including interviews to obtain demographic information and determine income eligibility.
  • Provide nutrition and health education in the areas of maternal and child health to WIC participants in accordance with Program guidelines.

Requirements:

  • B.A./B.S. degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics, community nutrition, or closely related field OR RN current RN license recognized by the State of Iowa Board of Nursing.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Licensed or registered Dietitian preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
