Job Overview

Position Title: Banquet Captain

Classification: Non-Exempt

Role Summary

The Dallas Country Club is in search of dedicated candidates for the role of Banquet Captain, who will assist the Assistant Banquet Manager in delivering exceptional service to our members, guests, and event planners. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding verbal communication skills, the ability to lead and follow directions, and a strong sense of teamwork. This individual should be proactive, highly organized, and maintain a visible presence. A key aspect of this role is to demonstrate resourcefulness and foresight in addressing the needs of members and guests. Responsibilities include overseeing banquet staff during events, managing bar inventories, and ensuring the completion of daily operational tasks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Assistant Banquet Manager and team.
  • Coordinate with the Banquet Chef for event preparations.
  • Manage room setups in accordance with the Banquet Event Order and member requirements.
  • Inspect all banquet areas prior to guest arrival to ensure proper setup.
  • Maintain cleanliness in pre-function areas, both interior and exterior.
  • Understand and execute the Banquet Event Order effectively.
  • Ensure all meeting rooms are arranged according to the BEO and kept tidy.
  • Provide a daily summary of event details to the Director of Food & Beverage and the culinary team.
  • Ensure timely arrival and proper attire of all staff in line with the event theme.
  • Plan, assign, and deliver exceptional service for all banquet functions.
  • Manage beverage requisitions for bars, including check-in and check-out processes.
  • Ensure that the entire banquet service team is well-informed about event specifics (BEO).
  • Communicate efficiently with Event Management, Members, Guests, Banquet Chef, and Front of House Management regarding all banquet requirements.
  • Fill in for dining room MOD shifts during less busy periods.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory banquet role within a high-volume environment, preferably in a club or hotel.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree in hospitality or a related field is preferred.
  • TABC certification is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with ala carte and fine dining service is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to read, write, and converse in English is required.
  • Professional appearance and grooming are expected.
  • Exhibit an approachable and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Foster a work environment characterized by trust and inclusivity.
  • Ability to assess the unique needs of each function and respond accordingly.
  • Strong delegation capabilities.
  • Adhere to proper uniform standards for associates.
  • General knowledge of audiovisual equipment is beneficial.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Capability to manage a large banquet team across multiple concurrent functions.
  • Knowledge of wine and bar service is required.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and environmentally responsible workplace.
