About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Amentum. As an Avionics Technician, you will be responsible for performing organizational, intermediate, and limited depot level maintenance on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Complex Maintenance Tasks: Troubleshoot and repair complex avionics/electrical systems, communication/navigations, electronic flight control, fuel, power generators, power distribution systems, lighting systems, flight instrument and fuel systems, temperature and pressure indicating, engine and control indications, ATFLIR, Electronic Counter Measure, and RADAR systems.
  • Provide Technical Assistance: Offer technical guidance and assistance to other employees as needed, and provide astute communication skills during aircrew de-brief.
  • Read and Interpret Technical Documents: Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, planning documents, test specifications, technical publications, and procedures, as well as applicable safety manuals.
  • Work in a Variety of Environments: Perform maintenance tasks in a hangar/shop/flight line environment, which may require physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities.
  • Meet Physical Demands: May be required to lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds, and have special vision abilities to perform the job, including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Work in a Fast-Paced Environment: May be exposed to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, snow, ice, etc., and may be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
  • Travel and Off-Site Service: May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
Requirements
  • Minimum Qualifications: Minimum three years' experience within the last eight years in their specific aircraft maintenance occupational field, with the last two years in the military or with a government aviation maintenance contractor.
  • Corrosion Detection and Prevention: Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention, and be qualified according to their field of expertise and the level of maintenance assigned.
  • Education and Certifications: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and be able to obtain/maintain any company/government required qualifications, certifications, licensing, or clearance.
  • Availability and Flexibility: Must be able to work all assigned shifts and schedules, and have a valid state driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent Experience: Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C, or MH-60S aircraft is preferred.
  • Expertise in Aircraft Systems: Possess a high degree of expertise in aircraft systems, avionics theory, and applications.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance Manuals: Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, publications, instructions, and special tools and test equipment.
  • Corrosion Prevention and Treatment: Possess a thorough working knowledge of the detection, prevention, and treatment of corrosion.
  • Aircraft Sub-Systems: Working knowledge of aircraft sub-systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operations, limitations, and technical orders.
  • Troubleshooting: May be required to troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls, anti-icing, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems to ensure aircraft remains in safe operating conditions.
  • Customer Orientation: Must be customer-oriented.
