Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical/Medical Technologist 1 or 2 to join our team at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. As a key member of our diagnostic laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing complex clinical laboratory tests, ensuring quality control requirements are met, and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of clinical laboratory tests, including screening, diagnosing, and treating animal diseases.
  • Assure that quality control requirements are met to validate test results and record data as part of a quality assurance program.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures, preparing and verifying the quality of reagents, standards, and control samples.
  • Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine and emergency preventative maintenance to laboratory instruments and related equipment.
  • Supervise, train, and schedule temporary employees, performing administrative functions including laboratory statistics, equipment purchases, service contracts, and preparation of standard operating procedures.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology with a curriculum accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association AND certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent, or certification in the specialized field appropriate to the laboratory division OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Clinical/Medical Technologist 2: Two (2) years of experience as a Clinical/Medical Technologist 1 or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a diagnostic laboratory setting.
  • Experience working in an educational setting, including providing instructions to others.
  • Experience tracking disposable inventory.
