Job Title: Public Health Registered Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Health Registered Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in promoting health and preventing disease in our communities.

Job Summary:

The Public Health Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care to populations with special needs during disasters and emergencies. You will work under broad supervision to provide care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures. Your focus will be on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
  • Function as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient's level of need.
  • Develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
  • Focus on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
  • Serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
  • Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements:
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 1: Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 2: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certification.
  • PH Registered Nurse Level 3: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within One year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certification.
