Job Summary:The Public Health Registered Nurse will provide professional nursing care to populations with special needs during disasters and emergencies. You will work under broad supervision to provide care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies, and procedures. Your focus will be on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.
Responsibilities:- Provide comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
- Function as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient's level of need.
- Develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
- Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of the population.
- Serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
- Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
- Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
- Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
- Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
- Assist with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
- Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
- Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
- Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
- CPR certification.
- Public Health Nursing Experience.
- Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.
