Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Nurse to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. As a Public Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in preventing disease, injury, and disability, and promoting health and well-being in diverse communities statewide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Focus on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, and the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.
  • Develop care plans based on nursing assessment and established protocols.
  • Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
  • Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
  • Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds.
  • Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a PHN course within one year of hire.
  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license.
  • CPR certification.
