Role Responsibilities:

As an Aerial Communication Line Technician, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Climbing poles and ladders, and operating bucket trucks to install coaxial and fiber optic communication lines under supervision.
  • Assisting in the daily inspections of the line and bucket truck, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are stocked.
  • Preparing equipment and conducting pre-work trip inspections before mobilizing to job sites.
  • Securing work sites and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Preparing various documents, reports, and checklists related to work, equipment, and safety.
  • Maintaining a safety-conscious attitude, being aware of pedestrian, co-worker, and vehicular traffic in the work area.
  • Setting up safety signs and cones to secure the job site effectively.
  • Conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and assisting with pre and post-job videos.
  • Operating company vehicles safely and efficiently as required.
  • Taking responsibility for tools and equipment used from the assigned truck and ensuring their return at the end of each shift.
  • Reporting lost or damaged equipment to the immediate supervisor promptly.
  • Checking, maintaining, and using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in compliance with OSHA and company safety regulations.
  • Performing routine maintenance checks on all machinery and reporting any excessive wear or damage.
  • Staying updated and compliant with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Identifying and correcting existing or potential safety violations.
  • Ensuring the security and cleanliness of trucks, tools, equipment, vehicles, storage, and work areas.
  • Keeping informed about industry best practices and procedures to maximize job performance.
  • Performing additional functions as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (CDL acquisition is highly encouraged).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating and working from bucket trucks.
  • Basic knowledge of coaxial and fiber optic installation operations and overhead construction procedures as specified by N.E.S.C.
  • Able to travel for work with overnight stays.
  • Safety-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to understand and execute instructions in written, verbal, or diagrammatic form.
  • Willingness to learn and understand all other utilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for daily interactions with customers and co-workers.
  • Capability to interpret and accurately complete various forms provided by the company or clients.
  • Exhibit honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity in all employment aspects.

Physical Requirements:

  • Good physical fitness and range of motion, including the ability to lift and carry loads up to 80 pounds.
  • Proficient in climbing trees, towers, ladders, utility poles, and performing construction duties at heights.
  • Able to work in extreme outdoor weather conditions, including humidity, heat, and cold.
