Position Overview:
We are excited to present an opportunity for a Registered Respiratory Therapist - Per Diem within our Pulmonary Rehabilitation unit. The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care to patients experiencing cardiopulmonary challenges, under the guidance of the Clinical Supervisor and the Administrative Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Manage assigned areas, seek assistance when necessary, and provide voluntary support to colleagues.
  • Assist in overseeing the work of Respiratory Technicians.
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations and ensure adherence to physicians' directives.
  • Interpret physicians' orders, test outcomes, and patient conditions to establish treatment plans.
  • Administer respiratory medications, educate patients and their families on respiratory care, and remain informed about industry advancements.
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as required and maintain a sanitized work environment.

Technical Duties:

  • Operate and monitor respiratory therapy equipment, administer oxygen therapy and medications, and ensure equipment is maintained according to established protocols.
  • Connect therapeutic devices to patients, manage individuals on mechanical ventilation, and conduct various procedures such as arterial punctures and pulmonary function tests.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of patient data and treatment methodologies.

Customer Service and Personal Skills:

  • Exhibit a positive demeanor, exceptional customer service abilities, teamwork, time management, and effective communication skills with patients across all age groups.
  • Clarify procedures to patients, foster teamwork, and demonstrate sensitivity to the psychosocial needs of patients.
  • Approach assignments with enthusiasm and engage effectively with all organizational levels.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess a valid New York State Respiratory Therapist license, along with BLS and PALS certifications. A solid understanding of medical terminology, therapy protocols, and respiratory care practices is essential. Educational qualifications for Registered Respiratory Therapists as outlined by the National Board for Respiratory Care are required.

Required Licenses: Respiratory Therapist License - NYS

Qualified candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills to interact effectively with all organizational members.

Compensation Information:
The compensation for this position aligns with New York state regulations regarding salary transparency in job postings and is established at $54.58 per hour. Actual salaries may differ based on experience, education, specialty, and hospital criteria.
