About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Advisor to join our team at H&R Block. As a Tax Advisor, you will play a critical role in providing expert financial guidance to our small business clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Analysis: Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports for our clients.
  • Tax Preparation: Prepare, submit, and manage tax statements and returns for businesses and clients, ensuring accurate and timely filing of all tax forms.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes, identifying opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
  • Team Management: Manage members of the tax team as they prepare components of the company's US federal income tax return and other tax documents.
  • IRS Audits: Manage and facilitate IRS income tax audits, preparing responses, creating schedules, and communicating with the tax team.
  • Legislative Updates: Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team, and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation.
  • Internal Audits: Provide support with various internal audits and special tax-related projects, reviewing tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
  • Team Development: Manage and mentor members of the tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as intermediate knowledge of integrated online accounting applications and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience: 5 years minimum related work experience.
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills, ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, excellent interpersonal skills, and critical thinking skills.
