Job Title: Party Chief - Heavy Civil Projects

Job Summary:

The Party Chief is a critical role in our organization, responsible for managing the activities of a survey party throughout various job locations. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and project management skills to ensure the successful completion of heavy civil projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Survey Operations: Utilize survey equipment and manage others to locate, review, and research job locations, identifying landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes that would affect the required survey.
  2. Project Management: Supervise survey work, evaluate priorities, and coordinate work efforts to ensure timely completion of projects.
  3. Quality Control: Review the standard of work being performed and derive necessary field calculations from work completed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations and standards.
  4. Training and Development: Utilize and provide training for survey instruments and equipment, ensuring that team members have the necessary skills to perform their duties effectively.
  5. Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative functions such as completing time sheets, creating vehicle mileage reports, maintaining expense accounts, and documenting subsequent expenditures.
  6. Communication: Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.
  7. Other Duties: Perform other unlisted duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  1. Experience: Two (2) or more years of experience as a Party Chief in heavy highway and bridge projects.
  2. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications.
  3. Technical Skills: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and utilize Construction Math concepts including calculating rate, ratio, and percent. Draw and interpret bar graphs.
  4. Physical Demands: Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind.
  5. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
