Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Sleep Disorders Center Assistant. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all facets of the patient referral process, from receipt of referrals to communication with patients and referring offices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Referral Management: Obtain pre-certification or prior authorizations, schedule sleep testing visits, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Patient Communication: Communicate referral information to referring offices and patients in a professional and caring manner.
  • Office Management: Perform basic office management functions and secretarial duties for the Manager/Supervisor of the department.
  • Customer Service: Answer phones in accordance with customer service standards and direct calls to the appropriate person.
  • Documentation: Enter complete and accurate data into the computer system regarding patient information, exams, physicians, and other relevant details.
  • File Maintenance: Maintain physical files and supporting documentation.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain good working relationships with referring physicians and specialist's office staff.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in clinical and clerical roles, preferably in a physician office setting.
  • Skills: Basic reading, writing, and oral communication skills; good spelling skills; intermediate computer knowledge; ability to troubleshoot minor problems within a Windows OS.
