Job Title: Patient Services Coordinator

Carle Foundation Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Services Coordinator to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Sleep Disorders Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and Coordinate Patient Appointments: Schedule/reschedule patient appointments, clarifying physician's orders when necessary.
  • Verify Insurance and Patient Information: Assist in confirming insurance verification/prior-authorization requirements and patient financial responsibility.
  • Review and Verify Departmental Referrals: Review and verify departmental referrals and orders for sleep testing &/or consults.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Screen incoming calls appropriately, working closely with local leadership to expedite callers and requests for information.
  • Support Office Management Functions: Perform basic office management functions and secretarial duties for Manager/Supervisor of department to maintain cohesiveness in day-to-day office functions and operations.
  • Work Independently and Efficiently: Work autonomously and efficiently with minimal direction.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate with patients in a professional caring manner.
  • Manage Electronic Medical Records: Demonstrate proficiency in use of electronic medical records.
  • Ensure Accurate and Timely Responses: Ensure accurate and timely responses to all referral requests.
  • Follow Department and Practice Policies: Follow all applicable department and practice policies and procedures.
  • Enter Accurate Data: Enter complete and accurate data into computer system regarding information on the patient, exam, physician and the like.
  • File and Maintain Physical Files: File and maintain physical files and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain Good Working Relationships: Maintain a good working relationship with referring physicians and specialist's office staff.
  • Schedule Appointments for Exams: Accurately schedule appointments for a variety of exams. Adjust schedule as necessary to accommodate emergent situations and/or cancellations. Discuss preparations with patient prior to exam.
  • Work with Clients and Referral Center: Work with clients/referral center on precertification, authorization and clinical documentation required by insurance companies to authorized sleep testing procedure.

As a Patient Services Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and courteous operation of our Sleep Disorders Center.
