At EMCORE Corporation, we are seeking a skilled IT Help Desk Technician to provide top-notch technical support and assistance to our users. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting issues, maintaining workstation and LAN performance, and ensuring seamless connectivity for all users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to users via phone, email, or in-person
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a timely manner
  • Monitor and improve system performance by identifying problems and recommending changes
  • Set up and maintain computer hardware, software, and networks
  • Assist with new hire onboarding and email setup
  • Maintain email accounts and directories
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of prior IT and systems administration experience
  • AA/AS degree or certification
  • Strong system administration and computer skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Practical verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Eager to learn and participate in projects

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, or hear.

Candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds as needed.

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics involve a moderate amount of noise.
