The Center for Prevention & Counseling is seeking dedicated individuals for on-call, per-diem positions as Recovery Advocates.
Role Summary: As a Recovery Advocate, you will provide essential non-clinical support and peer recovery assistance to individuals facing substance use challenges. This role involves being on-call for 12-hour shifts, with opportunities for additional compensation upon deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist participants in formulating a personalized recovery management strategy.
- Offer telephone support to individuals in recovery.
- Collaborate with patient navigators to ensure seamless service coordination.
- Respond to local hospitals or law enforcement agencies to establish initial contact with participants.
- Conduct outreach calls to individuals who self-refer for assistance.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to data collection protocols.
- Participate in team meetings and supervision sessions.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess personal experience with addiction, a minimum of two years in recovery, and a commitment to pursuing certification as a NJ Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. A stable personal recovery journey, familiarity with the recovery process, and strong interpersonal, communication, and computer skills are essential. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required. Additionally, candidates must be approved to volunteer with the Center and comply with all necessary requirements.
Applicants are required to submit a cover letter detailing their personal experiences with addiction and recovery, along with their resume.
