Job Overview

Position Title: Peer Mentor Team Leader

Role Summary: The Peer Mentor Team Leader is tasked with overseeing the Peer Mentor Team's operations.

Job Requirements: A High School Diploma or equivalent is necessary. For candidates in recovery, a minimum of 2 years of continuous sobriety and active participation in a recovery program is essential. Familiarity with issues affecting women (such as parenting, mental health, domestic violence, etc.) and knowledge of chemical dependency treatment is advantageous. Completion of the 28 written lessons of Recovery Dynamics and/or Recovery Dynamics training is required. Candidates must pass a criminal background check and a drug screening.

Work Schedule: Standard hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with the possibility of evening and weekend commitments.

Reporting Structure: This role reports directly to the Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting the Assistant Staff as needed:
    a. Facilitate or support Recovery Dynamics sessions.
    b. Initiate and maintain client files, including contracts, releases, intake forms, assessments, psychosocial data, progress notes, homework, incident reports, and referrals.
    c. Ensure client file documentation is current.
    d. Guide clients through program phases and review Recovery Dynamics lessons.
    e. Track client progress throughout the program.
    f. Monitor clients' health and refer to health service providers as necessary.
    g. Share on-call duties.
    h. Work in designated areas as assigned by the Program Director.
    i. Complete all required documentation for shifts.
  • Provide guidance and consultation on Phase II Program content.
  • Supervise Assistant Staff, developing orientation, performance standards, and overseeing their responsibilities.
  • Conduct open classes.
  • Collaborate with other Program Coordinators and Case Managers in program development and client consultations, offering counseling and education.
  • Act as a member of the Management Team, fostering a supportive environment for all clients.
  • Engage in treatment team discussions.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as directed by the Program Director.
  • Participate in scheduled training sessions and meetings.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, making informed decisions and taking appropriate actions while adhering to established protocols.
  • Exhibit the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and independently when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this position include the ability to reach, push, pull, stoop, stand, walk, and lift up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment:

This role may involve working in outdoor conditions or off-site locations. The noise level in the work environment can vary from moderate to loud.

Health and Safety Considerations:

  • Work hours are typically structured but may require flexibility based on operational needs.
  • Staff may encounter tasks with potential exposure to infectious materials.
  • All staff must complete annual training on infection control and safety protocols.
  • New employees are required to undergo training on managing physical and verbal threats.
  • Certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is mandatory within the first month of employment for those providing direct care.
