Job Overview

Cabell Huntington Hospital is currently in search of a casual, on-demand Speech Therapist dedicated to delivering exceptional speech and language pathology services in accordance with the established standards of practice and regulations set forth by the hospital, professional associations, and relevant governmental bodies. The therapist will assess the necessity for, and implement, tailored speech and language programs aimed at restoring, enhancing, and adapting performance following medical conditions, injuries, or functional impairments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, including unit rounds and discharge planning.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to students, graduate Speech Pathologists, aides, and volunteers.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Qualifications

Certification and Registration
  • Completion of an accredited Speech/Language Pathology program, with a minimum of a Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Current licensure to practice Speech/Language Pathology in West Virginia.

Physical Requirements
  • Potential exposure to infections and contagious illnesses.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, families, staff, and visitors in various situations, including challenging circumstances.
  • Capability to assist or lift patients, including supporting limbs or body parts weighing up to 250 lbs. or more, with appropriate assistance as needed.
  • Must possess adequate sight, hearing, and speech capabilities, with or without assistive devices, to perform assessment and treatment tasks.
  • Ability to manage frequent interruptions and adapt to schedule changes.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English to ensure clear communication.
