Overview

The Advanced Practice Nurse operates within a patient-centered coordinated care framework, showcasing competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation, collaboration, coaching, research, and ethical decision-making. This role involves working in conjunction with other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, and deliver care for individuals with health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conducts medical evaluations, treatments, and clearances for applicants, team members, and external clients in accordance with established company profiles and regulatory standards.
2. Delivers clinical care with professionalism, acting as an advocate for patients and exemplifying best practices.
3. Ensures clinical practice aligns with the regulations set forth by the NJ Board of Medical Examiners, the Code of Ethics, current NJ Department of Health mandates, and organizational policies.
4. Develops and executes tailored care plans.
5. Facilitates educational programs and support for patients and employers.
6. Reviews existing protocols and standards of care to integrate best practices into clinical operations.
7. Utilizes evidence-based and value-driven practices to foster positive patient outcomes.
8. Administers medications safely and effectively to aid recovery from work-related injuries or illnesses.
9. Prescribes medications and recommends over-the-counter options as necessary.
10. Initiates laboratory tests, immunizations, and diagnostic procedures as permitted by regulations and scope of practice.
11. Demonstrates proficient clinical skills in developing treatment plans utilizing the most effective screening methods.
12. Collaborates with physicians and effectively consults with other healthcare team members.
13. Exhibits strong communication skills across disciplines to achieve desired results.
14. Maintains accurate, systematic, and organized documentation of findings, recommendations, and educational efforts.
15. Engages in continuing education and maintains relevant documentation. Develops a personal growth plan in clinical expertise, aligning with leadership on goals.
16. Provides culturally sensitive and educationally appropriate information related to patient care needs.
17. Acts as a clinical resource for nursing staff, patients, and multidisciplinary team members to evaluate complex cases and determine suitable interventions.
18. Participates in the review of policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current evidence-based practices.
19. Serves as a resource for staff in addressing clinical, procedural, and systemic improvement opportunities that enhance care quality and outcomes.

Qualifications

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
2. Master’s Degree.
3. Maintains clinical competencies through ongoing education and practice as mandated by the Board of Nursing and national certification bodies.
4. Experience in a relevant patient care setting as required by regulations.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Master’s Prepared Advanced Practice Nurse.
2. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
3. Strong organizational and computer skills.
4. Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
5. Emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and strong interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
7. Valid Driver’s License.

Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
2. Advanced Practice Nurse Certification (with Master’s Degree).
3. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Preferred Licenses and Certifications:
1. CPR Certification.
