Executive Chef Job Description

Gecko Hospitality is seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead our culinary team and create a memorable dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Preparation and Production: Oversee all aspects of food preparation and production in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Menu Development: Create innovative menus that cater to a variety of tastes and dietary restrictions.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels and control food costs by utilizing proper portion control techniques.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all food produced meets or exceeds guest expectations in terms of taste, presentation, quality, and consistency.
  • Employee Management: Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating performance, and disciplining employees in the culinary department.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen by enforcing proper sanitation procedures.
  • Vendor Relationships: Develop relationships with local vendors to source fresh ingredients at competitive prices.
  • Budgeting: Work closely with the Food and Beverage Director to create a budget for the culinary department while ensuring profitability goals are met.
  • Industry Trends: Keep up-to-date with industry trends and new cooking techniques to continuously improve menu offerings.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an Executive Chef in a hotel or fine-dining restaurant setting.
  • Culinary Degree: A culinary degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of creating successful menus that cater to different tastes and dietary needs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team towards achieving goals.
  • Food Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for kitchen operations.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
