Job Title: Service Technician

We are seeking a skilled Service Technician to join our team at VIM Recyclers LP. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining recycling equipment, including hydraulic systems, electrical control systems, and mechanical functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel to customer locations to install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment related to assembly, hydraulic systems, electrical control systems, and mechanical functions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating, maintaining, and repairing hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, and associated components.
  • Understand and interpret electrical schematics, troubleshoot electrical faults, and perform repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems and components, including bearings, gears, belts, and chains, to effectively troubleshoot and repair machinery.
  • Utilize light welding techniques to perform repairs on metal components and structures as needed.
  • Conduct maintenance and repair tasks on horizontal and vertical scrap balers, conveyors, and other recycling machinery to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Interact with customers to assess equipment issues, provide technical guidance, and offer solutions to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, parts used, and equipment status to support reporting and future troubleshooting efforts.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and guidelines while performing maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting tasks to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel daily
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or relevant vocational training preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proven experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery, with a focus on hydraulic systems, electrical control systems, and mechanical functions.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and fluid dynamics.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics and diagnosing electrical faults.
  • Welding experience with proficiency in light welding techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and regulations.
Work Environment:
  • On-the-road: Most of the time will be spent traveling to customer sites in the Chicagoland area.
  • In-shop: Time spent in the company's shop during slow periods or when in-house repairs are needed.
