Position Overview

Wilmington College, a distinguished liberal arts institution with a strong commitment to career-oriented education, is currently seeking a qualified individual for the role of Admissions Counselor. This full-time, exempt position is situated within our Admissions Office and plays a crucial role in guiding prospective students through the admissions process.

The Admissions Counselor will engage with potential students and their families, assisting them in navigating the admission, financial aid, and class registration processes. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Delivering exceptional customer service to prospective students and their families.
  2. Conducting interviews with prospective students and their families.
  3. Processing admission applications and financial aid documentation.
  4. Ensuring timely responses to inquiries and requests.
  5. Reviewing application materials for completeness and requesting additional documents as necessary.
  6. Entering and maintaining accurate data in the admissions database.
  7. Assessing eligibility for scholarships and communicating award notifications.
  8. Providing follow-up counseling regarding financial aid options.
  9. Conducting outreach calls to follow up on financial aid awards.
  10. Educating students and families about the verification process and its implications for financial aid.
  11. Facilitating financial aid appointments and presentations at high schools.
  12. Participating in recruitment events both on and off campus.
  13. Delivering presentations at various campus events.
  14. Providing coverage during Saturday office hours as needed.
  15. Managing a designated recruitment territory through various communication methods.
  16. Maintaining regular contact with applicants to ensure completion of their admission files.
  17. Engaging with accepted students to provide ongoing support.
  18. Coordinating the recruitment of PSEO students and conducting interviews.
  19. Overseeing PSEO registration and related administrative tasks.
  20. Collecting and processing used textbooks at the end of each term.
  21. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Admissions.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one year of relevant experience; prior experience in student admissions is advantageous.
  2. Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse population.
  3. Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  5. Willingness to travel for recruitment purposes.
  6. Familiarity with private higher education institutions is preferred.
  7. Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by workload.
