Position Overview

Wilmington College, a distinguished liberal arts institution with a strong affiliation to the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), is currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Admissions Counselor. This full-time, exempt position is situated within our Admissions Office and reports directly to the Senior Director of Admissions.

The Admissions Counselor plays a pivotal role in guiding prospective students through the comprehensive admission process, including financial aid and class registration, to facilitate their enrollment at Wilmington College. Key responsibilities encompass:

  1. Delivering exceptional customer service to prospective students and their families.
  2. Conducting interviews with prospective students and their families.
  3. Processing admission files with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
  4. Ensuring timely responses within a 24-hour timeframe.
  5. Reviewing submitted documents and requesting any additional information as necessary.
  6. Entering data accurately into the admissions system.
  7. Assessing eligibility for scholarships and communicating award notifications.
  8. Providing follow-up counseling regarding financial aid options.
  9. Conducting outreach calls to follow up on financial aid awards.
  10. Understanding the verification process and advising students and families on its implications for financial aid.
  11. Facilitating financial aid appointments and presentations at high schools.
  12. Engaging in recruitment activities at high schools and college fairs.
  13. Participating in campus events and presentations.
  14. Managing recruiting territories through telecounseling and correspondence.
  15. Maintaining regular contact with applicants to ensure completion of admission files.
  16. Coordinating the recruitment of PSEO students and conducting interviews.
  17. Reviewing PSEO files and managing registration processes.
  18. Collecting used textbooks at the end of terms and processing reimbursements.
  19. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Admissions.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of relevant experience, preferably in student admissions.
  2. Demonstrated excellence in communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse population.
  3. Strong organizational skills, effective time management, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  5. Willingness to travel for recruitment events.
  6. Familiarity with private higher education is preferred.
  7. Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
